Too many years ago than I care to admit, I met Garrison at Molly Malones (Fairfax & 8th) in Los Angeles where he and his combo "Beneath the Wheel" were playing. I saw a wild troubadour with red sun streaked Lion's mane hair, a haunting voice, and making a 12 string guitar speak truth. When one of my cohorts returned to our tables and announced "Sarge--go talk to that man" - to my pleasant surprise- I found Garrison an engaging, friendly, local guy with roots in "the 'Burgh". I enjoyed seeing him at events up and down the Golden State coast for years, until I moved on. I was saddened by his passing. --However, it is comforting to know his spirit is there in those beautiful canyons winding down from the Valley to PCH and Malibu. For those who saw him live or knew him as a friend, we have lost. Heaven however, has gained a true original strong voice. God Speed my Friend on this All Saints Day 2017.
